Since 2008, the Ethnos Project Resources Database has grown to over 700 items relating to the topics of culture and development, the digital humanities, Indigenous knowledge management, information and communications technologies for development (ICT4D), community informatics, Indigenous media, language and cultural preservation, digital storytelling, emerging and appropriate technologies, and the like.
Resources are currently organized by categories, keywords, and people. As you can see by the numbers, that can be quite a bit of data to sort through. I recently modified the category view so that one can constrain a category list by keyword (for example, here is the publications category constrained by the keyword phrase “indigenous knowledge”).
To add yet another way of getting to the good stuff held in the resources database, I created curated views. These are clusters of keywords topically grouped: identities, indigeneity, places, groups & organizations, and years. I’ve got a few ideas for more views, but would love to get suggestions from you. Please leave a comment if you’d like to share your thoughts.
